Seasonal worker of the week : Dimitri

On the slopes of Les Arcs at the restaurant l’Arpette, we were approached by Dimitri, whose path we had crossed a few years ago in Les Menuires, when he was working at the restaurant La Marmite. So we interviewed him…

You and the restaurant business, it’s a long story?
I went to the hotel school in Challes-les-Eaux and I have been in the restaurant business for ten years. I started working for Michel Porcel’s group, which owns several restaurants, beginning with a season in Val Thorens at the Grange restaurant. I followed this up with a season in the Ardèche and went through several establishments in the region, before deciding to go back to the seasonal rhythm. It was in 2016 in Les Menuires, at the restaurant La Marmite where I stayed for four years. This year, the opportunity arose to come back and work for Michel Porcel and I seized it.

What do you like here at the Arpette?
The establishment is brand new, we’re starting from scratch and everything has to be written. I like the atmosphere, between the restaurant and its beautiful home cooking and the DJs who bring the skiers to the dance floor in the middle of the ski slopes…

So you know Infosnews magazine well?
I’m a regular reader and I look for Paul and René, the little hidden characters, in every issue. My colleagues and I challenge each other! I’ve even taken part in the new game, Ki-Koi-Où, which asks questions on the pages dedicated to restaurants. The magazine allows me to discover Les Arcs through its articles, and gives me ideas for outings and activities.

What do you like about doing the seasons?
There is never a routine and the change and novelty is good. The atmosphere is nice with the colleagues, we are in the middle of great landscapes and we have a nice French and foreign clientele.
